• Family Promise is a hospitality program. It is not a shelter.

  • There are more than 6,000 congregations participating nationwide in 42 states.   The program has been in existence since 1986.

  • The Family Promise model has often been recognized for excellence, including receiving a Point Of Light award from Pres. George HW Bush.

  • Families coming into the program receive intensive case management and must agree to the conditions of the program.

  • Guests are at each host congregation for a week at a time. Typically they leave the Day Center for the Host Congregation at 5:00 PM and return around 7:00 AM.

  • Volunteers are always present when guest families are at the Host Congregation.

  • Children in the program are under parents’ supervision at all times.

  • Extensive training is provided for volunteers using nationally developed programs.
