Family Promise is a hospitality program. It is not a shelter.

There are more than 6,000 congregations participating nationwide in 43 states.   The program has been in existence since 1986.

The Family Promise model has often been recognized for excellence, including receiving a Point Of Light award from Pres. George HW Bush.

Families coming into the program receive intensive case management and must agree to the conditions of the program.

Guests are at each host congregation for a week at a time. Typically they leave the Day Center for the Host Congregation at 5:00 PM and return around 7:00 AM.

Volunteers are always present when guest families are at the Host Congregation.

Children in the program are under parents’ supervision at all times.

Extensive training is provided for volunteers using nationally developed programs.
